And honestly, this is starting to feel less like a normal Avengers movie.
Doctor Doom Is Finally Here
Robert Downey Jr. returning to Marvel was already a massive surprise.
But making him Victor von Doom made the announcement even crazier.
This isn’t supposed to be Tony Stark coming back from the dead.
Marvel is officially presenting Downey as Doctor Doom.
But obviously, fans are still asking questions.
Because when the face behind Iron Man suddenly becomes the MCU’s next biggest villain…
you know things are going to get complicated.

This Cast Is Absolutely Ridiculous
Doomsday isn’t bringing together just one team.
It’s bringing together multiple generations of Marvel characters.
The officially announced cast includes familiar MCU heroes, the Fantastic Four, and several actors returning from the original X-Men films.
That means characters such as Thor, Captain America, Loki, Shang-Chi, Fantastic Four members and legendary X-Men are all part of the bigger picture.
And that’s probably the most exciting part.
This doesn’t feel like another small MCU adventure.
It feels like Marvel is putting everyone in the same room and asking:
“Okay… now what?”
The Russo Brothers Are Back
Another huge reason to be excited?
Anthony and Joe Russo are directing.
Yes.
The same directors behind Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
They understand how to handle massive casts without making every character feel completely pointless.
And this movie definitely needs that experience.
Because Doomsday has Avengers.
Fantastic Four.
X-Men.
New Avengers.
And Doctor Doom standing somewhere in the middle of all that chaos.

But Can Marvel Really Reach Endgame-Level Hype Again?

What Should You Watch Before Avengers: Doomsday?
You probably don’t need to watch every MCU project.
But a few movies and shows could become important.
At minimum, I’d revisit:
- Avengers: Infinity War
- Avengers: Endgame
- Loki
- The Fantastic Four: First Steps
- Thunderbolts*
- Selected X-Men movies

Final Thoughts
Avengers: Doomsday could be Marvel’s biggest gamble since Endgame.
They’re bringing back Robert Downey Jr.
They’re introducing Doctor Doom.
They’re combining Avengers, Fantastic Four and X-Men.
And they’re trusting the Russo brothers to make it all work.
That’s either going to be incredible…
or an absolute mess.
